Fieldnotes

Fieldnotes serve a few purposes:

  1. The process of taking notes helps focus attention, to help the note taker observe more carefully.

  2. The notes can be reviewed later, to help remember details and make connections.

  3. And the notes can be shared with others, to provide insight into a place or an experience.

This year, I'll be sharing Fieldnotes every week. (Or almost every week.) The world can feel overwhelming these days. I'm hoping that writing these notes will help me make time to slow down a bit — creating an opportunity to reflect on the world at large and things closer to home, both to the challenges and joys.

I've decided to share them here because sometimes I come across observations that other people have shared just when I need them, and that is so helpful. And I think it's increasingly important to create opportunities for connection. So with gratitude to everyone who has left notes for me to find when I need them, I’m sharing some as well.
